Lois May (Barnes) Busse Sheridan of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on July 17, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, three months and nineteen days. Lois was born in St. Clair on March 28, 1929, daughter of Roy Lee Barnes and Clestia Victoria Barnes nee Anderson. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have seven children.
Lois is survived by five sons, David Ray Busse of St. Clair, MO, Calvin Lee Busse and wife, Barbara, of Springfield, MO, Timothy Joe Busse of Springfield, MO, Ricky Wayne Busse, Sr. and wife, Leona, of Union, MO and Kelly James Busse and wife, Donna, of Walnut Grove, MO; by her sisters, Peggy (Richey) Cox and husband, Vernon, Sr., of Sullivan, MO, Shirley (Barnes) Chrisman and husband, Donald, of Aledo, IL, and Sherry Barnes of Gardner, KS; by two brothers, Gary Barnes of Aledo, IL and Mark Barnes and wife, Linda, of Gardner, KS; by her sister-in-law, Millie Barnes of St. Clair, MO; by seventeen grandchildren, Marie Mingus and husband, Marty, of Springfield, MO, Samantha Mills and husband, Scott, of Springfield, Kimbur Retherford and husband, Rex, of Nevada, TX, Missy Moore of Kansas City, MO, Veronica Richey of Puebleo, CO, Joshua Dudley and wife, Laura, of Joplin, MO, Carrie Medina and husband, Craig of the state of NC, Eric Busse of Lyman, WY, Nicole Hinson and husband, Brian, of St. Clair, MO, Callie Sue Busse of Leander, TX, Justin Busse of Citra, FL, Megan Noldon of Florissant, MO, Joshua, Ricky, Jr., and Willis Busse of Union, MO, James Fennimore and Travis Busse, both of Springfield; by twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Barnes and Clestia (Anderson) Barnes Tripplet; by her grandparents, Jesse Barnes and Tessie Christian and Jim Anderson and Mary Pierce; by two brothers, Raymond Barnes and Hal Barnes; by her husbands, Carl Busse and Lloyd Sheridan; by one son, Douglas Busse, and by her daughter, Beverly (Busse) Starnes.
Lois was a Christian of the Baptist faith, living a long life of servitude to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, touching those wherever she went. During her working career she was employed as a laborer at Deb Shoe Company in Union, MO, serving the company for over thirty-five years. She was a great cook, gifted mediator and talented writer of poems. Lois also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing and quilting. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live in their hearts forever.
A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with her son, Ricky Busse, Sr. officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date at Virginia Mines Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Virginia Mines Cemetery.
