OBITUARY

Carlyss June Brown of Wentzville, MO departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO, on July 8, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-four years, ten months and twenty-one days. Carlyss was born in DeSoto, MO, on August 16, 1932, daughter of Elmer Lawrence Butler and Ruth Marie Butler nee Jones. On October 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles Emmett Brown and four children came to bless this union.

Carlyss is survived by her husband, Charles Brown of Wentzville, MO; by three sons, Steven Brown and wife, Jane, of Wentzville, Terry Brown and wife, Terry, of Wentzville and Charles A. Brown and wife, Jeanne, of O'Fallon, MO; by her daughter, Connie Brittain of Ballwin, MO; by two sisters, Sharon Winchester and husband, Wayne, of St. Clair, MO, and Betty Sullentrup and husband, Tim, of Edwardsville, IL; by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Carlyss was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruth Butler, and by her brother, John Butler.

Carlyss was a Christian of the Baptist faith, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She made caring for her home and family her career in life and never tired of her job. Hobbies and interests of hers included knitting and crocheting. Carlyss loved to cook and bake and work in her garden. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her second great-great-grandchild. The love shared and many precious memories created with her family will forever live in their hearts.

A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services were held at 5:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Watson officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur, MO.
