Betty June Wells of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on June 4, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-four years, eight months and nineteen days. Betty was born in St. Clair on September 15, 1932, daughter of Jerome Gable and Clarice Gable nee Lough. On March 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Eldon Ray Wells, known to all as Zeke, and ten children came to bless this union.

Betty is survived by five sons, Raymond Wells, Russell Wells, known to many as Doc, and life partner, Cheri Crow, Ricky Wells, Ronnie Wells and Robert Wells, known to all as Nute, all of St. Clair, MO; by two daughters, Melody Just and husband, Rick, and Star Webb both of St. Clair; by three sisters-in-law, Alice Gable of Union, MO, Ilene Gable of St. Clair and Gracie Wells of St. Clair; by ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Clarice Gable; by her husband, Zeke Wells; by one son, Randy Wells; by two daughters, Brenda McCullum and infant Robin Wells; by three brothers, Joseph, Elmer and Carl Gable; by her son-in-law, Myron Webb, Sr., and by one grandson, Myron Webb, Jr.

Betty was a Christian of the Baptist faith and had most recently attended Virginia Mines Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. During her working career she had been employed by a local shoe manufacturer as a line worker. Betty was a member of VFW Post 2482 Auxiliary and was a past member of Elks Lodge 2651 Ladies Auxiliary, both in St. Clair. She loved to sing and dance and play cards, especially Texas Hold-Em Poker. Betty also enjoyed going fishing and camping on the river with her family. Gardening was another of her hobbies. Betty was a kind and gentle lady with a keen personality. She loved her children dearly and always welcomed them in her home. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live in their hearts forever.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Bobby King officiating, assisted by the Rev. David Godat. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.
