Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gladys Johnson; and by his half-brother, Ken Johnson.

Forrest was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior. During his working career he was employed as a laborer at Emerson Electric Company for twenty-four years. After he was laid off he began working at Blackburn, retiring after seventeen years of employment. Forrest enjoyed bowling on a bowling league for Emerson, as well as playing on their softball team. Hunting and collecting guns was a favorite pastime and he never tired of this hobby. He was an avid reader and had collected many books. Forrest's passion was playing blue grass music and he was talented on the guitar and the banjo. He always looked forward to playing music at the Lewis family reunions. Forrest was always a private man but he enjoyed the times he shared with his close friends.
