OBITUARY

Joan Helton of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on November 29, 2016, having reached the age of eighty-four years, eight months and thirteen days. Joan was born in St. Louis, MO, on March 16, 1932, daughter of George Ford and Nedra Marie Ford nee Bowles. On March 13, 1952, she was united in marriage to James Ray Helton, known to most as Jimmy, and one daughter came to bless this union.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson of Union, MO; by one brother, Thomas R. Ford and wife, Kessirin, of Jacksonville, FL; by one sister, Lucille Just of St. Clair, MO; by her sibling-in-laws, Eugene Helton, known to many as Gene and to some as Red, and wife, Carol, of Sullivan, MO and Judy Harmon and husband, Ferd, of Sullivan; by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nedra Ford, and by her husband, James Helton.

Joan was a Christian and member of the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. She began her working career at a sales clerk at the Woolworth's Store in Crestwood, MO. Later she worked as a checker at Quattlebaum's IGA Store. After several years with IGA, Joan worked as a Manager for Wonder Bread, overseeing the stores in St. Clair and Union, MO until she retired. Joan had always enjoyed going dancing with Jim and the fellowship of their family and friends. After Jimmy passed away Joan moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, MO, returning to St. Clair in May of 2005. Joan's daughter was her pride and joy and she cherished the time they spent together.

A devoted and loving mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
