Patricia Ann Friend, known to most as Pat, of Sullivan, MO, departed this life suddenly at her home, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, having reached the age of sixty-eight years, six months and twenty-six days. Patricia was born in Washington, MO, on March 29, 1948, daughter of Jess Willard Doyle and Norma Lee Doyle nee Hall. On January 30, 1966, she was united in marriage to Ronald Larsen Friend and five children came to bless this union.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ronald L. Friend of Sullivan, MO; by one son, Ronald J. Friend, known to many as Jimmy, of Sullivan; by four daughters, Sheila Powell and husband, Mark, of St. Clair, MO, Sherry Hodges and husband, Dennis, of Salem, MO, Melissa Butera and husband, Brian, of Wagram, NC and Melinda Bartz, known to as Mindy, and husband, Toby, of St. Clair; by her father-in-law, Claude Friend and wife, Rose, of Luebbering, MO; by her former daughter-in-law, Rose Friend of Lonedell, MO; by fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Naes and husband, Justin, Erin, Jeremiah and Brittany Friend, Shannon Bardot, Brandon Hoerr and Evan and Mason Powell, Amberlyn and Dustin Hodges, Andrea Denney and husband, Korey, Alaina and Vincent Butera and Logan and Gavin Bartz; by two brothers, Keith Doyle of Washington, MO, and Kelly Doyle and companion, Nancy, of Union, MO; by three sisters, Virginia Vollmer and husband, Robert, Deborah Kamper and husband, James, and Kimberly Wedemeier, all of St. Clair; by seven great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Norma Doyle; by her sister-in-law, Gigi Doyle; by her mother-in-law, Catherine Friend, and by two infant grandchildren, Adam Crews and Cassandra Hodges.
Pat was a Christian and current member of the First Assembly of God Church in St. Clair, MO. In prior years, she was a member of Victory Church in St. Clair, now known as Roots Church. Pat loved attending church and participating in church functions. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life and she never tired of her job. Family gatherings and events were very important to her and she was always supportive of the functions her children and now her grandchildren were involved in. She liked to play cards with family and friends, as well as playing board games and working puzzles. In younger years, she enjoyed gardening and raising houseplants. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to yard sales and shopping. Nothing made her happier than the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, as each of them was special to her.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Lynn Stroup officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.
